In this paper the bandgap characteristics of the two dimensional quadrilateral lattice structures with different configurations are studied. Explicit expressions of dispersion curves are obtained analytically. The authors analyze the relative movement forms corresponding to different dispersion curves by eigenmodes. The dispersion curves are constructed by connecting the points with the same eigenmodes. This study on the bandgap of quadrilateral lattices can provide guidance for the design of the periodic lattice structures for vibration attenuation as well.
