The author uses a continuation method to prove the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions to pendulum-like equations with friction, where the differential operator can be: \begin{itemize} \item[-] the classical second derivative; \item[-] a scalar p-Laplacian operator; \item[-] a relativistic operator; \item[-] a mean curvature operator. \end{itemize} The obtained results improve and complete the previous (rather wide) literature on the argument.
