Bäcklund transformations for the Degasperis-Procesi equation are constructed by using the reciprocal transformation and the associated equation. Then the corresponding nonlinear superposition formulas are obtained. Some soliton solutions of the Degasperis-Procesi equation are explicitly constructed by using Bäcklund transformations and nonlinear superposition formulas.
