Hamburger-type weighted shifts: jumping flatness and Aluthge transforms (Q2226362)

The authors discuss on a Hamburger type weighted shift \(W_{\alpha}\) with a weight sequence \(\alpha=\{\alpha_{n}\}_{n=0}^{\infty}\subset \mathbb{C}\). Firstly, the authors define new kind of flatness properties for a sequence \(\alpha\). It is called the ``jumping flatness''. Then equivalence conditions for which a non-subnormal Hamburger type weighted shift \(W_{\alpha}\) satisfies one of the jumping flatness properties are shown. Secondly, the authors give an example of a Hamburger type weighted shift \(W_{\alpha}\) whose Aluthge transform \(\widetilde{W_{\alpha}}\) is not Hamburger type. Lastly, the authors show that for any non-subnormal and Hamburger type weighted shift \(W_{\alpha}\), \(W_{\alpha}\) satisfies one of the jumping flatness properties if and only if \(\widetilde{W_{\alpha}}\) is subnormal.
