The authors elaborate the concept of sup-completion of a Dedekind complete vector lattice along the lines of [\textit{K. Donner}, Extension of positive operators and Korovkin theorems. Lect. Notes Math. 904. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer (1982; Zbl 0481.47024)]. The detailed structure of the completion is studied and some applications to the Borel-Cantelli lemma are given.
