The author, lecturer in St. Petersburg, has published a voluminous Cantor biography in 2012. The article under review is based on a detailed research in several archives in St. Petersburg. Galina Sinkevich presents new and very interesting documents concerning the ancestors of Georg Cantor; especially Cantor's mother, Maria Boehm, belonged to a famous family of violinists. Her father, Franz Boehm, who was the number one among the violinists in St. Petersburg for more than 30 years, was teacher of Glinka, Verstovskij and Lvov. Cantor's father Georg Woldemar Cantor, born in Kopenhagen, was a merchant and a specialist in finances. Also among the father's ancestors were musicians. In 1856 Cantor's family moved to Frankfurt for economical reasons.
