In this paper, the authors developed a mathematical foundation for the application of the Laplace transform to the analysis of the mixed problem describing the vibration of a compound rod. A number of theorems and lemmas and the demonstration of the mathematical problems are illustrated but, no numerical experiments are performed for validation. The paper will be useful for theoretical researches in the area.
