A short review of papers on the topic mostly for the last two decades is given (there are 27 references). The authors investigate a quantitative determination of BSA monolayer coating of a silica nanoparticle surface. On the base of applied mathematics, the model for the BSA surrounding of the silica nanoparticles is formulated and used for numerical studies. The main result is the derivation of an analytical expression for the total energy of the system as a function of a spherical core radius. The silica nanoparticle is introduced as a model particle to illustrate the physical properties such as size and charge. It is found that the number of protein molecules on the silica nanoparticle cannot be explained by the charge effects and Coulomb interaction, it depends on the van der Waals interaction alone. The results obtained in the article are comparable with the ones found in experiments.
