Common fixed points of mappings in a uniformly convex Banach space (Q2266433)

In the general setting of a complete metric space, common fixed point theorems were proved by Wong (1973), Iseki (1974), Husain and Sehgal (1975) and others. \textit{S. C. Bose} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 18, 151-156 (1978; Zbl 0404.47030)] improved all these results taking the domain, a closed convex subset of a uniformly convex Banach space. In the present paper, the authors have extended the results of Bose in two respects. The convexity restriction on the domain is dropped and a common fixed point theorem for a triple of mappings is proved. This also improves some of the results obtained by \textit{M. S. Khan} [Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 12, 305-311 (1981; Zbl 0479.54024)].
