The paper is devoted to development of the theory of journal bearings profiled by long and narrow (both spiral and straight) grooves with more accurate allowance made for the compressibility of the lubrication film through the use of cubic splines for the local approximation of the pressure in the working gap of the profiled region and more accurate allowance for slip by the method of \textit{C. Cercignani} [Theory and application of the Boltzmann equation (1975; Zbl 0403.76065)], which was introduced for the first time into the theory of gas lubrication by \textit{N. A. Slezkin} [Vestn. Mosk. Univ., Ser. I 1981, No.6, 95-99 (1981; Zbl 0474.76009)] for bearings with isotropic geometry.
