The author has considered the problems of vibrating bodies. He has bridged the gap occurring from the point of view of oscillations between the square and circular membrane by using the natural method based on the Paley-Wiener theorem. He has stated and proved three fundamental theorems. An unpublished result of L. Lampert has been extended. The last theorem of the paper is quite good and is a very useful generalization of some of the results proved in the first theorem. Lucid applications of the theorems such as Jensen's theorem have been made. This paper is quite advanced in nature and requires a sound knowledge of advanced mathematics - such as the theory of mean periodic functions, global oscillation for general domains, knowledge of the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian operator, convolution theorem, Fourier transform, Bessel functions, convergence of sequences, etc. This paper is useful for the researchers working in the field of analysis. Its presentation is good, followed by a number of useful relevant references.
