In the laboratory experiments aimed at studying the vortices in stratified rotating oceans and atmospheres the vortices are often generated by sources or sinks in a layer of rotating fluid. It is a convenient way to produce vortices in controllable conditions but the connection between the intensity of forcing and associated vorticity and velocity fields was not available. In this paper we propose the axisymmetric solution for the flow induced by a point source or sink in a viscous rotating fluid.
