\textit{J. G. Dhombres} [Aequationes Math. 15, 173--193 (1977; Zbl 0359.39003)] gave the general solution of the multiplicative symmetric functional equation \(f(x*f(y))=f(y*f(x))\) in the setting of abelian groups. Here the author presents some classes of its solutions in the framework of arbitrary semigroups including non-abelian groups.
