The \textit{Jalālī} calendar, established in the 5th century AH (11th century AD), had a long history in Iran and later in India, through the early 17th century and beyond. The sources disagree on its radix date, some asserting a date in 468 AH (AD 1076), and others stating 471 AH (AD 1079). The latter date eventually became more popular, although it seems that al-Khāzinī was a proponent of the former. The author argues that 468 AH was a genuine radix date, but the change to 471 AH occurred quite soon after the calendar was established.
