The author proves some results on the possible order of \(\alpha+\alpha^{-1}\) for \(\alpha\) a non-zero element of a finite field of even order. The results are based on his earlier paper, [Contemp. Math. 579, 187--204 (2012; Zbl 1302.37074)].
