The author considers electromagnetic wave propagation in an infinite waveguide of square cross section with perfect conducting walls. The multiple scattering method is used to compute the velocity of the electromagnetic wave. To do so, the scattering problem is solved using the single layer potential for the Helmholtz equation. The main result implies that, for the given geometry, the effect of scattering by the particles is small in the considered range of electromagnetic frequencies.
