The authors studied the local solutions to the free boundary problem for the incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations which model the motion of the plasma in vacuum. In the case of the magnetic field is tangent and the total pressure vanishes along the plasma-vacuum interface, the local well-posedness of the problem is established in Sobolev spaces.
