Bartel Leendert van der Waerden corresponded energetically with many mathematicians and scholars, and a trove of letters is conserved in the Library of the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, Zürich. The author usefully lists Van der Waerden's correspondents, and gives an indication of those he wrote to most (to some over 50, and to others over 100 times) and the subjects of the letters.
