Summary: We show that the perturbation estimate for the matrix equation \(X - \sum_{i = 1}^m A_i^* X^{p i} A_i = Q\) due to \textit{J. Li} [ibid. 2013, Article ID 979832, 11 p. (2013; Zbl 1470.15012)], is wrong. Our discussion is supported by a counterexample.
