The paper presents a shifted-inverse power iteration method for solving eigenvalues problems by means of the finite element method and the multigrid technique. In order to improve the overall efficiency of the problem investigation, the authors combine the shifted-inverse iteration method with multilevel meshes to transform solving the eigenvalue problem to solving a series of nonsingular boundary value problems. Numerical examples are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.
