The author studies mathematically the third-grade fluids equation in one-dimensional space. He shows that the asymptotic behaviour of solutions is given by the very singular self-similar solutions of the associated Burgers equation. The proof combines fine energy estimates in weighted spaces rewritten using appropriately chosen scaled variables.
