The authors introduce a sum of (possibly non-compatible) observables on an orthomodular \(\sigma\)-lattice using conditional expectations. A detailed example is presented. Moreover, a sum with respect to a Boolean sub-\(\sigma\)-algebra is introduced and several characterizations of its commutativity are given.
