The paper deals with two models for a polaron in a magnetic field. They are: the Fröhlich model which involves a quantized phonon field, and the Pekar model which involves a classical phonon field. The purpose of the paper is to derive an effective nonlinear one-dimensional equation for the ground state of a polaron in a strong magnetic field and as it is customary one starts with the Hamiltonian.
