Summary: [For part II, see the preceding entry.] The theory of note I [ibid. 3, No. 2, 79-101 (1992; Zbl 0777.47012)] is applied to the boundary value problem of elastostatics when vanishing forces are given on the boundary. The elastic coefficients are only supposed to be bounded and measurable. A detailed analysis is carried out for determining the base operator.
