The hyper Kähler and quaternion Kähler manifolds are Riemannian \(4n\)- dimensional manifolds having their holonomy group contained in \(Sp(n)\) and \(Sp(n)Sp(1)\), respectively. The author gives here some results regarding the existence and the properties of the infinitesimal automorphisms on a hyper Kähler and on a quaternion Kähler manifold. In particular, a formula of Bott type relating their zeroes with symplectic Pontrjagin numbers is established.
