A cellular neural network (CNN) is, generally speaking, a large-scale nonlinear analogue circuit which processes signals in real time. The architecture of a CNN is similar to that found in cellular automata: any cell is connected only to its neighbor cells. A small parameter is introduced in the state equation of a CNN. This new approach is used for proving stability of CNN's by constructing Lyapunov's majorizing equations. The algorithm is helpful for finding a map from initial continuous state space of a CNN into discrete output. Finally, a comparison between CNN's and cellular automata is made.
