The author generalizes results due to the reviewer [Diss. Math. 129 (1976; Zbl 0324.55002)] and to the reviewer and \textit{Z. Kucharski} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 107, 1-15 (1985; Zbl 0578.55002)]. Coincidence problems for \(A\)-proper pairs are studied. A generalized coincidence index for \(A\)-proper maps is constructed. Some standard applications are presented.
