Cost optimization and quality control of products from queues with preemptive priority (Q2367919)

The authors find the generating functions for queues with two pre-emptive priority classes in which departing customers have fixed probabilities of returning for another service. The paper has missed a number of important references on priority queues, including the works of \textit{D. P. Gaver} [J. R. Stat. Soc., Ser. B 24, 73-90 (1962; Zbl 0108.314)], \textit{J. Keilson} [Ann. Math. Stat. 33, 1314-1322 (1962; Zbl 0104.368)] and the standard text by \textit{N. K. Jaiswal} [``Priority queues'' (1968; Zbl 0179.479)]. These works in particular explain the completion time approach to priority queues which can be used to analyse the cases studied in this paper.
