The problem describing the sediment exchange between the bed load and the suspended load layers is considered modeling suspended sediment transport by the advection-diffusion equation. The boundary value problem is formulated when the streambeds develop ripples which affect the sediment exchange process. The net-flux bottom-boundary condition for nonequilibrium transport of suspended sediment over ripple covered streambeds was obtained by using the homogenization method. The derived boundary condition indicates that the net sediment flux near the bed is affected by the presence of the ripples.
