A regularization method in the electromagnetic inverse scattering problem (Q2373618)

The authors deal with the inverse scattering problem for a two-dimensional axisymmetric inhomogeneous electromagnetic medium. To solve the associated nonlinear integral equation in a way suitable for filtering out instable components corresponding to high frequencies in spatial spectrum or detail properties in space, they propose a Tikhonov-type regularization method, applied to the discretization of the original equation, with a new regularization matrix. The stability and convergence of the proposed method are tested on examples with various conductivity contrasts including discontinuous conductivity profiles.
