The authors consider the functional-differential operator \[ l(y)=a_1 y'(x)+a_2 y'(\theta(x))+p_1 (x)y(x)+p_2(x)y(\theta(x)), \enskip x\in [0,1], \] with involution \(\theta(x)=1-x\) and give some applications of this operator to the problem of expansion in eigen-and associated functions.
