Topical functions and causality (Q2381106)

The paper explores the connection between the causality of discrete event systems and the properties of the topical functions describing the system dynamics. It is shown that any topical function which is causal is also a uniform topical function. In particular, any causal topical function has an asymptote and any causal topical endofunction admits a non-negative spectral vector. The last part of the paper develops a comparison between simple and uniform topologies.
