The problem of harmonic completion of missing parts of an image is solved, and an effective algorithm for image impainting is suggested. The algorithm is based on the continuation of geodesic paths, satisfying the connectivity principle. After defining the impainting domain, the digital restoration process becomes automatic. It is shown that the suggested completion algorithm is fast and robust, and its qualities are illustrated by numerical experiments.
