The ``Full Müntz theorem'' revisited (Q2386421)

Let \(p\in (0,\infty)\) and let \(A\) be a compact subset of \([0,\infty)\) with positive lower density at \(0\). In the paper under review, the author provides an elementary and elegant proof of the ``convergent sum part'' of the full Müntz theorem in \(L_p(A)\) and in \(C(A)\), together with the ``Clarkson-Erdős-Schwartz'' phenomenon. In addition, the author extends the earlier results of Müntz, Szász, Clarkson and Erdős, L. Schwartz, P. Borwein and Erdélyi, and Operstein.
