The authors generalize a previous work of theirs for an orthogonal basis in \(L^2(0,1)\). The result is a lower bound for \(n\)-term approximations with respect to frames of a general form of a family of functions. The authors point out that this is a natural form for applications -- particularly for non-orthogonal bases in applied problems of image compression.
