Large sublattices in subsets of Banach lattices (Q2408905)

This paper is motivated by the following result of \textit{A. Wilansky} [Math. Z. 144, 9--12 (1975; Zbl 0294.46011)]: If \(Y\) is a closed infinite codimensional subspace of a Banach space \(X\), then \(X\) contains a closed infinite dimensional subspace \(Z\) with \(Y\cap Z=\{0\}\). As a continuation of previous work by the same author, the present paper studies a lattice analogue of the previous fact. Among the several interesting results given in the paper, let us highlight one of them: Suppose that \(X\) is an order continuous Banach lattice and \(Y\) is a closed infinite codimensional subspace of \(X\), then \(X\) contains an infinite dimensional closed sublattice \(Z\) such that \(Y\cap Z=\{0\}\).
