The paper is devoted to the murder of Lvov professors and students in July 1941. The author claims that the presentation of this fact in the literature is far from scientific rigor. This is illustrated by the book [\textit{R. Duda}, Pearls from a lost city. The Lvov School of Mathematics. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2014; Zbl 1303.01001)]. In particular, the ``de-Polonification'' principle used by Duda is criticized as being false.
