The paper is devoted to the generalization of a result of \textit{J. Rätz} [Aequationes Math. 28, 35--49 (1985; Zbl 0569.39006)] concerning the orthogonally additive mappings defined on an inner product space. Under some additional assumptions, the author proves that such additive mappings must be of the form presented by Rätz, as well as the image of such mappings is an abelian \(n\)-divisible group.
