    A parabolic system modeling chemotactic aggregation of myxobacteria proposed by \textit{H. G. Othmer} and \textit{A. Stevens} [SIAM J. Appl. Math. 57, No. 4, 1044--1081 (1997; Zbl 0990.35128)] is studied. The system is reduced to a hyperbolic equation with strong dissipation. An energy estimate and conditions for blow up of the solution are found.
