This paper aims to examine if and how the Stagirite's corpus, besides the well known passages concerning the oppositions of the future square, could have left a legacy also to those conceptions of opposition kinds, in particular contrariety, not strictly or not exclusively related to logical rules. The term `synthesis' is analyzed in its itinerary from Green traditions to Greimas' structural semantics. Then, myths of the origins are analyzed together with the origins in myths. The Aristotelian category of motion is the object of a special section. In this respect, like in approaching `synthesis' and the complex term, a special stress is made on the link between Greimas and Viggo Brøndal's linguistic theory. Another rich section deals with `diathesis'. Everywhere, open questions are pointed out and this is perhaps the main merit of this paper. The paper culminates with some considerations on the philosophical roots of narrativity, bridging Aristotle, Greimas, Propp, Rastier, Hjelmslev and Benveniste.
