The authors study the a priori estimates, existence and nonexistence of radial sign changing solutions and the Palais-Smale characterization of a problem involving the Laplace Beltrami operator. Next the existence of sign changing solutions to the Hardy-Sobolev-Mazya equation and the critical Grushin problem are considered.
