Parallel computing in the statistical system Jasp (Q2430244)

The paper describes a simple parallel computing ability that realizes load balancing and fault tolerance in a statistical analysis system called Jasp (Java based statistical processor) [\textit{J. Nakano, T. Fujiwara, Y. Yamamoto} and \textit{I. Kobayashi}, ``A statistical package based on pnuts'', COMP-STAT2000 proceedings in computational statistics. Physica-Verlag, Heidelberg, 361--366 (2000)]. The design principles and the implementation of parallel computing in Jasp are realized by using the two sophisticated Java technologies Jini and JavaSpaces [\textit{R. Flenner}, Jini and JavaSpaces application development. Indiana, Sams Publishing (2001)]). Two functions for executing parallel computing in Jasp are introduced. A simple example and its experimental results are provided.
