This compact textbook, printed on thin paper, is the result of combining the two volumes of previous editions into one (cf. Zbl 0904.00004; Zbl 0919.00005; ME 2004e.04324). It covers the mathematics for bachelor degree programs in engineering sciences. In 16 chapters it contains complex numbers, vectors, matrices, elementary functions, calculus of one and several variables, ordinary and partial differential equations, Fourier series, Fourier and Laplace transforms. The style is didactically clear and vivid with many motivating examples from applications, mostly dispensing with formal proofs. The layout is clear and emphasizes important formulas and results. Several additional topics can be found on the author's web page, as are numerical methods for differentiation, integration and solution of ordinary and differential equations, curve and surface integrals, vector fields and vector analysis, and also technical applications like transfer functions, filter circuits and bending vibrations. Unfortunately there are several discrepancies between the contents promised in the book and the material supplied on the web page, including omissions and duplications, but mostly the online material is of the same good quality as the book itself. The homepage supports self study by providing interactive \texttt{Maple} worksheets for many topics -- the book itself however does not contain any Maple code -- and offering several animations demonstrating important mathematical and technical concepts. Here the reader also finds solutions of the over 350 exercises.
