In the theory of generalized topological spaces, which was founded by Á. Császár in 1979, many variants of connectedness are discussed. In 2009 R. Shen provided the question whether irreducibility implies \(\beta\)-connectedness. The given note uses a simple example to answer this question in the negative. Finally, some characterizations of \(\beta\)-connectedness are obtained.
