In this short paper a class of static, plane-symmetric metrics is studied. In the case with the above symmetries, an approach for solving the Einstein equations with scalar field configurations endowed with a topological charge of degree type is presented. For illustration, this approach is also applied to generalized sine-Gordon and Higgs models.
