The author considers the holomorphic functions on a Riemann surface. With the aid of the Bernstein index and by using the Growth-and-Zeros theorem, the author gets an upper bound of the variation of the argument of a holomorphic function along a curve on a Riemann surface. The application of the obtained results will be given elsewhere.
