On the spectrum of linear relations associated with uniformly well-posed problems (Q2459736)

The author classifies the spectrum of a linear relation generated by an operator function and a first-order differential expression associated to a uniformly well-posed Cauchy problem. The classification to point, residual, and continuous spectrum is given in terms of boundary operators for the linear relation. This is a generalization of similar results for the case of operators that were presented in [\textit{V.\,M.\thinspace Bruk}, Funkts.\ Anal.\ 31, 35--41 (1990; Zbl 0804.47004); \textit{V.\,M.\thinspace Bruk} and \textit{V.\,A.\thinspace Krys'ko}, Differ.\ Equ.\ 40, No.\,10, 1496--1497 (2004; Zbl 1078.34522)].
