The author deals with the linear stability problem taking into account the influence of gravity modulation. The author uses a perturbation expansion in powers of amplitudes of applied saw-tooth and step-function profiles, thus generalizing the conventional theory. Profiles are expressed by Fourier series. The modificatied critical Rayleigh number is calculated as a function of modulating frequency.
