\textit{H. F. Weinberger} [J. Differ. Equations 154, No. 1, 225--237 (1999; Zbl 0926.35051)] gave an example of a system of two semilinear parabolic equations with equal diffusion coefficients and Neumann boundary conditions which has solutions that blow-up in finite time while all solutions of the corresponding system of ODE's exist globally. A simpler proof of Weinberger's result and some extensions of it are given in the present paper.
