The authors analyze a hybrid behavior cooperation-competition model now termed as co-opetition model. They use analytical and numerical tools to show how partial cooperation can provoke an explosive increment of productivity at the price of segregation of the ``weaker competitor'' within cooperative lines. The study also shows that strategic alliances in competitive environments might also provoke a feedback mechanism promoted by cooperation, while competition causes segregation within cooperative profiles. Some basic reasons explaining the biodiversity of life ad the high complexity of industrial markets are given. Extinctions are likely to occur by the lack of adaptation of the strongest competitors to sudden environmental change or stress.
